Hi all,
September is behind us and Fall is about to fall-or maybe it has already! It seems like yesterday we were just getting home from the islands and now Halloween is upon us. What next? Thanksgiving then Christmas! Yum! Next thing you know and we will be heading back down to the boats. I can’t wait, what about you? Kat and the boys have settled back into their school routines, I have been trying to catch up with all the little projects around the house that get neglected during the summer.
Popcorn did you say? Yes, both of our boys are now in Scouts and we are up to our eyes in selling popcorn to help raise money to send a scout to scout camp. If you like really good popcorn check it out here http://www.trails-end.com/?scout=a0afa937d8b4883
Here are a few Items of Note to kick off the Fall season:
The SeaTrek Scholarship Fund is still in need of donations. Many of you have given to this fund in the past and just as many have been recipients of the generosity of those families who believe as we do, that a single voyage with SeaTrek can transform a student’s life. As a contributor to the SeaTrek Scholarship Fund, you too will help provide a child with the means to alter their life-experience and future in a meaningful way. We hope you will add your name to the expanding legacy of generous SeaTrek families who have helped us provide that boost for students in need.
Paperwork….as always we have this to tend with:):) We have a few items we’d like you to take special note of at this time:
1. A few of you still need to do the online registration. If you have not yet done so please try to get to it this week.
2.Additionally, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Insurance has proven to be an asset to families in the past- you never know when your plans will be interrupted and it’s a relief to know you’re covered.
3. All SeaTrek participants are required to sign up for DAN Insurance. DAN Insurance is not expensive but the peace of mind it offers all divers is priceless.
4. Lastly, every SeaTrek participant is required to have on file a completed NAUI Student Record Folder – Guys, it is imperitve that we have this folder for every single student. Make sure you scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page so you don’t miss anything. Yes. Everyone (even if you are a returning student) must print it out, fill in the appropriate blanks and return it to us either by mail, by fax 810-487-1633 or scan/email within 7 business days of signing up for their 2014 trek. It only takes 5 minutes to fill out. Getting it in on time helps to alleviate the problem of lost folders, forgotten folders, unsigned folders and folders that are not filled out correctly. It is the most disheartening experience for a student to arrive down island without having turned in a completed folder because we absolutely cannot let them participate.
As you go to fill out the NAUI Student Record Folder, take note of these helpful hints we offer to simplify things.
We have highlighted the sections that must be filled out.
a.) If you are under the age of 18 it must be filled out and signed by a parent or guardian. It is asking for the participants information other than the small section on the lower part of page 1.
b.) On page 2 you put the participants name in the blank that follows “I”
c.) On the bottom of page 2 you only need to fill out the 1st section that starts with “I have read this agreement….”
d.) On page 3 in the Medical History Section…you must write Y or N and this must be signed by both the participant and the parent or guardian.
Have a great Fall season!
