Students spent the morning presenting their research projects and saying goodbye to our new CEI friends

Their presentations were great, and many of the CEI staff went out of their way to compliment them on their work. I was so proud of them and it felt good to hear them express how much they learned and took away from the experience. It’s times like these and young people like this that give me hope for the future. After our goodbyes it was time to set sail again. We made our way to the Exumas to do a couple more dives before heading back to Nassau. With the weather cooperating, it was the perfect opportunity to do a wreck dive called the Austin Smith. The wreck was really interesting and the since the fish are accustomed to divers, we got several good photos. We were even joined by a couple reef sharks and a hawksbill turtle. We concluded the day with a presentation and discussion about careers in marine science and a special presentation by one of our students, Maya. She talked about the history of shipwrecks in the Bahamas. It was really interesting. And once again – before we knew it – it was time for some well-deserved rest.
